Theodore Robinson was arguably the most knowledgeable American artist advancing the cause of Impressionism. Robinson spent many years in France and was one of the few Americans to have direct contact with the most highly acclaimed innovator and proponent of French Impressionism, Claude Monet. This important exhibition presented examples from each period of the artist’s career and included several masterpieces from museum collections.
